Early this Spring, the son and daughter-in-law of a great friend had their first child. The catch was that the father was deployed and stationed overseas when "m" was born. I simply CAN NOT imagine this.
My husband and I were blessed to be together when each of our boys were born and having gone through that transition three times, I have the utmost respect for couples who are not able to spend that milestone together. My husband has said several times that he would give anything to always be with me when our children entered this world. Having been through the ups an downs of pregnancy and post-partum highs and lows, I know that those days, weeks, and months are genuinely meant to be spent with the person who helped you create this perfect new life.
Yet, a lot of couples do not have that luxury. There are tens of thousands of men and women overseas and domestically who do what they do, day in and day out, so that the rest of us have the luxury of being a family--all together--from day one.
This session was different. I love all of my clients but sessions like this dig a little deeper into my heart. This time was not about matching outfits or the perfect settings. It was about capturing a few moments in time--real life with a newborn who had not yet even met her father.
In honor of M, M, and m:)
