I have only known Allen's Grandma Vera for the 11 years that Allen and I have been together but she has made as much of an impact on my life as anyone I've ever known.  She is getting old and while she has become a little set in her ways and opinionated, she still places family above everything else and finds the greatest joy in the smallest things.  She recently had breast cancer too and is still kicking just as hard as ever.  Grandma Vera has been part of a farming family for her entire life.  She knows hard work and isn't scared of it.  She is real.  You can always count on that. 

I took the following photo while we were all gathered together to celebrate Grandma Vera's 93rd birthday.  93.  Wow!!  And she is as beautiful as ever...
